Ministry at the Parish
Across the country, parish-based Young Adult Ministry can take many forms, from an all- volunteer-led program to a ministry with a full-time paid young adult minister on the parish staff. In the end, however, the goal of parish young adult ministry is the evangelization of adults in their 20s and 30s through relational experiences.
Examples of really good parishes doing young adult ministry across the country include:
- St. Vincent de Paul Parish, San Francisco, California
- St. Dominic Parish, San Francisco, California
- Holy Family Parish, Inverness, Illinois
- St. Clement Parish, Chicago, Illinois
- Holy Name Cathedral Parish, Chicago, Illinois
- Cathedral of St. Patrick, New York City, New York
- St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, New York City, New York
- Holy Trinity Parish – Contemporary Roman Catholics (CRC), New York City, New York
- Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, Georgia
Young Adult Ministry also serves as an advocate to the parish community at large regarding the needs of the young adult generation (which accounts for over 40% of the adult population in parishes across America). This is especially important in the areas of marriage ministry, worship and music, college outreach, baptismal preparation, singles outreach, and creating a vibrant, attractive atmosphere in the local church.
