Ministry at the Diocese
Most dioceses have resources to help young adults and/or to assist parishes and groups in developing as young adult-friendly communities. However, each diocese is set up differently, so finding these resources can be like a scavenger hunt. But, here are a few hints to help you with your hunt.
- Many diocese combine youth ministry and young adult ministry, so look for the office serving teens. Some examples:
- Some dioceses that have staff working on Young Adult Ministry. Here are links to a few of these “YAM Offices”
- A number of dioceses have an office for college campus ministry that also provides wider young adults ministry, so try the Campus Ministry Office. Some examples:
- A growing number of diocese include young adult ministry within the Family Life or Marriage and Family offices, this is especially true for ministry for couples, parents and the divorced, separated or widowed. Some examples:
- The Office of Faith Formation or Religious Education may have staff knowledgeable in young adult ministry as they work on training of adults for ministry.
- Do not hesitate to seek speakers, print resources, or expertise from other diocesan offices as well, such as Lay Ministry Formation, Vocations, Evangelization, Departments of Catholic Schools, etc.
