Weaving the Future Together: Hispanic Young Adult Ministry

Over two thousand young people gathered in June of 2006 for the First National Hispanic Youth & Young Adult Ministry Encounter ("Encuentro") at the University of Notre Dame. NCYAMA along with a number of other national ministry organizations were proud sponsors of this event.

This "Encuentro" was a chance for the Church to come together with leaders in Hispanic youth and young adult ministry - to respond to the growing reality of a changing Catholic landscape.

This national event was the culmination of many local and regional gatherings (where up to 40,000 people raised their voices to add to the discussions), led by La Red, the National Catholic Network de Pastoral Juvenil Hispana (and NCYAMA partner).

NCYAMA continues to support the ongoing work of La Red and its efforts to implement the findings of the Encuentro process. As part of its collaboration with La Red, there is a constant representative from that organization on NCYAMA's National Leadership Council - helping our network move towards a future weaved together with inculturation, diversity, and dialogue.
